It is my pleasure to welcome you all, on behalf of the College of Health Sciences,
KNUST, Kumasi to the 11th Biennial Conference of the College. The Conference
for this year, on the theme: ““Bridging the Gap: Multidisciplinary Approaches to
Strengthening Ghana’s Health System”, is most appropriate for the challenging
times in which we live. It is a privilege to have erudite resource persons to give us
insight and share their requisite experiences with us.
Presentations at this Conference will eminently demonstrate what we, as Health Professionals and
Scientists, bring to the fore to complement the work of the Health Services in addressing the daunting battle
of mankind against human diseases and promoting healthy lifestyles as required by the Sustainable
Developemnt Goal 3 (SDG 3).
The vision and mission of our college are:
• To be a preferred destination for teaching, research, professional and entrepreneurial training in
health sciences for sustainable development of Ghana and the rest of Africa;
• Provision of a conducive environment for professional and entrepreneurial training in health
sciences, collaborative research, community and industrial support, enhanced linkages and;
• Encouragement of business innovations, for effective health care delivery in
Ghana and for achieving globally relevant health goals.
As could be clearly depicted, the vision and mission of the College are in tandem with the Sustainable
Development Goals (SDG) 3, 4 and 17, which are as follows:
• Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages;
• Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and;
• Promote lifelong learning opportunities for all
Thus, the Conference affords the College and the august participants great opportunity to brainstorm
together to expand the frontiers of health delivery, in addressing the challenges posed by human diseases
and other health related conditions, and in achieving the SDGs.
As part of capacity building, our postgraduate students have also been offered the opportunity to present
their research findings. Please ensure that you interact and establish new partnerships, collaborations and
networks for further enhancement of our collective output as one team.
